The 2013 Cost vs. Value report by Remodeling Magazine is out and it shows a positive sign for the remodeling industry with the national average of cost-value ratio rising for the first time in six years.
The report is broken up into nine regions of the United State with the Connecticut and New England Region showing an uptick in value of all projects compared to last year’s report. For Connecticut the report is broken further down to New Haven and Hartford with a downloadable pdf.
The national data of the Cost vs. Value report compares the average cost of 35 popular remodeling projects with the value of those projects retain at sale. The Darien Boy Scouts are getting ready to accept donation for their annual giant tag sale with drop off dates starting April 18th. If you have a large heavy item you can call the Boy Scouts for a pick up, click here to reserve a pick up time and date.
Tag Sales are a great way to Reuse & Recycle helping the local community and the environment by knowing that items that are being donated will be used by another family. This win win situation gets even better because it also raises money to support the local Boy Scouts and all donations are tax deductible.

Connecticut’s building supply company Rings End located in Darien, Connecticut and 10 other locations sponsors an all day education event for builders and architects on new building technologies, materials, building codes and Energy Star version 3. The event was called “If Walls Could Talk”, there were built wall models on display along with 6 seminars and two Q&A sessions were part of the all-day activities along with Vendor displaying building materials. Noroton Green is a new single family residential development in Darien, Connecticut.
The ‘green’ community consists of eight smart-sized custom single family homes that were designed by LaVigna Associates and being built by the developer Hertz Construction. This will be the first development in Darien to be Green Certified using the National Association of Home Builders Green Standards.
