2013 Cost Vs. Value of Home Improvements Connecticut.

The 2013 Cost vs. Value report by Remodeling Magazine is out and it shows a positive sign for the remodeling industry with the national average of cost-value ratio rising for the first time in six years.

The report is broken up into nine regions of the United State with the Connecticut and New England Region showing an uptick in value of all projects compared to last year’s report. For Connecticut the report is broken further down to New Haven and Hartford with a downloadable pdf.

The national data of the Cost vs. Value report compares the average cost of 35 popular remodeling projects with the value of those projects retain at sale. You can view national data for the projects or go to regional data for a more detailed look as well as mid-range vs. high-range remodel values.

~ Average days on the market for rentals in 2012 are 66 compared to 2011 of 52.

This list is for you if you are a homeowner, landlord or tenant. It takes everyone in a living space to be aware of their surroundings and how to keep it safe. From simple items such as changing batteries in smoke detectors, basic maintenance to safe home living management.

Here are 12 important safety tips that all landlords and tenants should be aware of and verify continual maintenance.

1. Smoke Detectors. ~ Hard wired back up smoke detectors and Carbon Monoxide detectors are a huge safety consideration. Remember to change those back up batteries every 6 months, it’s recommended to do that when you are changing the clocks for day light savings.
2. Exits ~ Every bedroom must have two ways of egress either by door or window. Check basements and floor levels to make sure there are two exits.
