3 Diamonds in the Rough ~ Homes for Sale, Darien, Connecticut.

3 Diamonds in the Rough ~ Homes for Sale, Darien, Connecticut.Darien, Connecticut

You can either buy a new house or buy a used house. Buyers tend to want to buy a used house that is new, they go in and start looking for items wrong with the house and miss the big picture. With a background of over twenty-five years experience in home renovations, remodeling and new construction I understand what it takes to buy a fixer upper.  Below are what I consider 3 Diamonds in the Rough located in Darien, Ct. that need a range of TLC from simple interior painting and floor refinishing to major renovations and additions.  Darien, Connecticut is about 50 miles east of New York City on the coast of Connecticut. It is a 55 minute train ride to NYC with easy access to I-95 and the Merritt Parkway.

3 Diamonds in the Rough ~ Homes for Sale, Darien, Connecticut.

The first diamond in the rough house is 4,634 sq. ft on one acre with 5 bedrooms, 4 full baths and one half bath.  About a mile from downtown and the train station this property is on a side street with a pool in the back. The master bedroom is on the first floor with possibilities of building a new suite on the second floor. Three bedrooms are on the second floor with the 5th bedroom/aupair/guest suite by itself up a separate staircase.    I would recommend that this house needs a little TLC, re-painting the interior and re-finishing the floors. The kitchen has already been renovated. Some outside TLC and you have a beautiful home. Original listing price was $2,199,000 now at $1,895,000.

The second diamond in the rough home is about a ½ mile away from town and the train station an easy walk. Built in 1958 this TLC ~ Darien, Ct.home is 928 sq ft. on 0.39 acres with 2 bedrooms and one full bath. With the original bathroom, kitchen and single pane windows with storms this house needs a little more TLC. I would recommend renovating the kitchen, bathrooms, and new energy efficient windows. This is a great opportunity for a buyer to be able to put their own personal touches on a home. Possible expansion with a second floor for the adventurous buyer.  Original priced at $519,000 now at $499,000.

The third diamond in the rough property needs a lot of TLC, built in 1960; the home has 2856 sq ft, 3 bedrooms and two full baths.  This contemporary home was built on a heavy stone foundation of a 150 year old barn. The beauty of this property is location location location….with about 460 feet of direct waterfront on 2.19 acres.  You can do a major renovation to the house putting in your exact details and wants with a panoramic view of waterfront and wildlife.  Selling price $2,800,000.

Beaches, BBQ’s & Sunsets in Connecticut

Beaches, BBQ’s and sunsets in Connecticut

A favorite time of the day for me to relax is just before sunsets, especially at the beach. Here in Connecticut we are extremely lucky to have access to the beaches. We usually bring a bar-b-que and get grilling, enjoy the fresh air, relax and renew ourselves. Sharing these times with friends and family members is a lot of fun and a great way to relax. I hope you enjoy these sunset pictures at the beach in Connecticut. ~ Dave.

And don’t forget the BBQ’s, most beaches have pits ready to use.
